Give Yourself Permission To Be Yourself
Dear Invisible Kids,
Don’t be afraid to be who you truly are, and pursue what you want in life. Maybe even at the cost of hurting others’ feelings. Give yourself permission to be YOU.
Yesterday I was texting auntie Jessica, I told her I was afraid of being disloyal in my future relationships. I had always tried to behave like a nice boyfriend in all my relationships. But deep inside my dark side is always lingering- the hunger to text and date more women.
Jessica replied, “Why do you need to be afraid of who you truly are? Why don’t you accept who you are? I accept being an “angry bird” in the workplace and learning to be patient… then be a Playboy, no one forces you to be a loyal boyfriend!”
My first thought was, “Really? I have the permission to do so?” But actually, why not?
It sounds counter-intuitive, but we are usually the person who doesn’t give ourselves permission to be ourselves. Maybe we’re afraid if we act differently, we’d be labeled as weird, lazy, immoral, or a failure. But if it’s who you really are deep inside, go be it. I’d rather die being who I am, than disguising myself as someone else for my whole life. (Just don’t do illegal stuff though😂 and make sure it doesn’t come from childhood trauma or insecurities)
Be authentic. Be brave. And be yourself unapologetically. Permission granted!
I love you!
Love,
Dad
“Dear Invisible Kids” is just an idea of recording my life lessons for my future kids. If they exist in the future, great, they’ll get to know their dad. If they don’t, I guess they remain invisible forever😂. Hopefully, the messages would benefit someone in this world.
