Listen to your heart and body

Dear invisible kids,

Listen to your heart and body. They will tell you what aspects you should take care of yourself. We have all the right answers inside ourselves, but it’s up to us to take action.

Recently, I’m suffering from hair loss, bacne, losing motivation for work, and lack of focus. I’ve been ignoring these symptoms for a long time and kept sabotaging myself with a very unhealthy lifestyle, including sleeping late, eating unhealthy food, and didn’t spend enough time deep thinking.

Your heart and body are whispering the right answers to you, but sometimes it’s frightening to face our own weaknesses. And it’s easier to self-sabotage ourselves and constantly seek instant gratification because they are more fun and require less willpower and discipline. But they only lead us to dissatisfaction in the long run.

I came up with a cliché yet effective method yesterday. Throughout your day, try to ask yourself constantly, “Is what I’m doing right now bringing me long-term satisfaction in terms of my body, my heart, and my mind?“ Not happiness, but satisfaction. The difference is like spending money on entertainment versus putting your money in investment. The latter brings you real fulfillment in the long run.

Sleeping early, working out in the morning, and writing (including this article) gives me real satisfaction, compared to texting on dating apps, watching Youtube videos, and scrolling through social media. I’m making a change to my life now.

So what are your heart and body telling you today, kids?

Love you,

Dad

“Dear Invisible Kids” is just an idea of recording my life lessons for my future kids. If they exist in the future, great, they’ll get to know their dad. If they don’t, I guess they remain invisible forever😂. Hopefully, those messages would benefit someone in this world.

P.S. If you want weekly emails on how to become your best self, subscribe here. A free relationship ebook “Mindful Love”+ Tim Ferriss’s workout cheatsheet will be delivered to your inbox immediately.
